Stay fit without the gym

People, no matter how occupied with whatever errands they may find theirselves “busy” with, still try to spare some time to get fit. They buy out a piece of their golden time, unconsciously not for a 10-min. sit-ups but for a 30-min. “planning” on how to lose weight.

Are you a workaholic employee with no days-off, a home-based boss, or a pre-occupied freelancer who wants to spend even a 15-minute jogging on a treadmill, or perhaps who just wants an alternative to walking outdoors on rainy days?

If staying for 2 hours in the gym is what you have been yearning despite hectic working schedules, you deserve to know an alternative measure to exercise your joints or burn your fats lest you have.

Those who are not dedicated to working out consistently probably won't want to spend what it takes to buy a home-gym accessory. But anyone serious about getting and staying in shape will benefit greatly from this great idea.

Your clean floor at home is one good space to execute curl-ups/sit-ups and push-ups. With your rubber shoes and sports wear on, you can jog in place for 2-3 minutes. Bending, stretching, and rotating your knees, legs, arms, and ankles can make a thorough warm up.

A lot are having their regular exercise with the help of recorded aerobics or belly dancing on video compact discs. For those who are unwilling to give up their precious one and a half hour just to work out think these videos are a must.

Instead of paying the membership fee and your monthly obligation as a customer in a gym, with your comfortable house and your vcds, definitely, you can have a complete work out session at a lower cost. And the good news is, this sheer fitness exercise does only take less than an hour of your time!

If you feel deprived of your time for yourself, don’t lose hope. Stay being a keep-fit enthusiast, and stick to the maxim, “No pain, no gain.”

Start this absolutely-not time-consuming health fitness routine by simply making your home a literal gym.

Are you getting enough exercise?

Chiropractic - an alternative antidote

Chiropractic adjustments are drug-free, nonsurgical healthcare procedure specializing in the use of manual and ancillary therapies. It is said to be an alternative medication to treat various conditions.

Chiropractic adjustment, otherwise known as “spinal manipulation”, treats vertebral subluxations or misalignments. Misalignments cause pressure on nerves, which impedes proper functioning of nerve impulses to other parts of the body. Improper nerve functioning can cause disease. Hence, the goal of chiropractic adjustments is to correct spinal subluxations.

Chiropractors select the technique which will most effectively correct subluxations using a minimum of force. The adjusting is an "art". It requires skill and training than just strength.

The result of the adjustments varies from the patients’ health history. Chiropractic adjustments are painless for most patients. However, those who are new to chiropractic treatments may involuntarily stiffen or resist the adjustment and feel a small amount of discomfort until they are able to relax during treatment. Additionally, mild discomfort may be felt if the patient has had a recent trauma, such as whiplash, due to inflammation. On the other hand, many patients report a feeling of relief, calmness, and a sense of well being after the adjustment while others feel they have an improved mobility.

Is this kind of alternative medication safe? Very likely. Dozens of research studies have documented the safety and effectiveness of chiropractic adjustments. They are significantly safer than taking medications or having spine surgery. The complications from chiropractic adjustments are rare and random according to a research.

On the other hand, the safety of this procedure lies on the performer of the manipulations. Definitely, it is dangerous to adjust your spine by yourself. Chiropractic adjustments need to be performed by a skilled professional. There may be other types of professionals who can also perform these adjustments, such as osteopaths (Dos) (but rare these days). It is wise to be careful of physicals therapists, massage therapists, or “healers” who claim to be skilled in this practice but do not have the reliable credentials, qualifications, and experience of a chiropractor.

The placement and position of both the chiropractor and the patient are also important. Yes, it is vital that both are in their appropriate respective position while doing the process.

Furthermore, as a precise method of restoring proper movement, Chiropractic adjustments are useful in correcting:pain and stiffness in the neck, shoulders, back, arms, hands, chest, abdomen, hips, legs, feet. They can also treat certain types of headaches, Sciatica, injuries and trauma to the body such as whiplash, Scoliosis, leg pain and nerve disorders, sports injuries and most muscular skeletal injuries such as tennis elbow, strained muscles, and sprained joints and ligaments, Bursitis and Tendonitis (conditions involving inflammation of soft tissues), repetitive strain disorders such as carpal tunnel, and even Arthritis.

If one of these maladies disturbs you, don't “grin and bear it”. Find a professional Chiropractor in your area and set up an appointment as soon as possible!

Get healed with Reiki

Those who believe that every person has the power to heal his own self or another person through the use of energy can try performing the Reiki attunement.

Reiki is an art of healing. According to some books and formal writings, Reiki is a Tibetan or Buddhist way of healing. It was said that in the late 1800's. Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese educator and meditation master, had discovered by accident this concept of healing.

Reiki attunement uses the force of Universal Life Energy called Reiki, which is said to be the power behind the healing. It uses the natural energy in the body to remove all of the person’s physical, mental, and emotional concerns. With Reiki, it is possible to achieve total recovery from diseases, whether it is a disease in the mind, body or spirit.

The process of Reiki attunement only involves the hand the energy to flow through them. It does not use any physical tools or devices in order to initiate healing.

Reportedly, Reiki attunement can be used to address issues in your past, which may cause some of the problems you are facing today. In fact, some people who experienced this traditional healing process claimed that the session was truly their life-changing experience.

Reiki attunement is said to bring a unique healing experience to people, especially those who are suffering from emotional crisis. You can expect a Reiki attunement session to make radical changes in the way you think, eat, work, and relate with others.

However, all of these can only be achieved when you have chosen the right Reiki master. Yes, Reiki is a very complex concept, that it can only be performed with a Reiki master. Definitely, this process can't be learned on your own, as there are many concepts to know and many techniques to practice.

Reiki is often referred to as remote healing or a magical healing process. This procedure can be best understood as “a ceremony of spirit” rather than a “spiritual ceremony”.

Reiki attunement comes in three degrees.
1. On the first degree, your energy will allow you to make energy flow out of your hands.
2. The second degree will teach you the Reiki symbols in order to empower the flow of this energy. Once learned, you will have the ability to send Reiki over time and space. You will also have the power to heal both mental and emotional problems.
3. The third degree is when you reach the Master Level. In this degree, you have control over many more Reiki symbols. More importantly, you can perform the sacred Reiki attunement ceremony on others at this level.
To have access to Reiki through simple meditation and intellectual exercises alone is not enough. You have to know how to let the Reiki energy in, and then allow it to pass through you. Without proper training, or failure to go through the attunement process, it is impossible to complete even the first level of Reiki.

Organize your home

Our thoughts, sometimes, are bigger than our strength. We want to accomplish big tasks everyday that we plot schedules, list of “things to do” and “must-get- done” for that day. Yet we always end up believing that there is still “tomorrow”, that there is still another convenient time to get things done. Worst, we missed to consider that we have not really started a single task.
If that is the case, it is wise to accept that things should be worked on one at a time before everything falls into place rather than bombarding yourself with a long list of plans that are far possible.

Keeping a house a home is perpetual. Even rest days are not rest days for working people. With the house chores that need to be accomplished, homes seem like blue-collar establishment with no day-offs!
Is the weight of burden depends on the size of the household? Not likely. Even if you are still single, you may feel you are too responsible of organizing your home that you might even outweigh a large size household’s chores. You eat alone, sleep alone, you do all your routines alone, but you might wonder that the mess you caused your house or rented house equals that of a large household.
Why do you think this happens? Not taking action to get things done fosters feelings of helplessness. Taking action, even if it only involves committing ten minutes of your time each day to organize, is empowering and relieves stress. Seeing an organized atmosphere can be a catharsis.
If organizing is no easy task for you, find ways to break down the job into smaller, manageable tasks. The satisfaction of completing each small task is motivation to keep going. Of course, it's going to get messy in any household. It won't always be organized. But having a system in place to deal with it makes temporary disorganization less stressful.

There is no “right times” in keeping your home hassle free. Maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of your place is some sort of a commitment. However, this responsibility doesn’t have to get in the way in some of your “major commitments” for each day. Thus, instead of scheduling a general cleaning once a month, why not do it once a week? This might sound burdensome since you need to clean up 4 times in a month, but imagine this less hassle way of organizing your home, it’s too great an idea isn’t it?

True, the more you procrastinate, the little the things you can accomplish, and the greater the chances of acquiring stress from organizing a messed-up place.
Hence, it is always better to work things out as soon as possible before you run out of time.

Removing Clutter Without the Fuss

At some point, there are things you need to be in control of rather than letting yourself be under their control, without really knowing it.

This is true to those who are finally freed from the stress of being surrounded by clutter.

You may find yourself pleased with the things you have. Expensive or not, as long as you think they satisfy you, they become your very best buddy at home. But what is really unacceptable is that the things you wanted the most are those you need to stop holding on to, at your most unwanted moment yet a reasonable time.

If you are one of those who murmur after having been late in coming to the office because of looking for the stuff you need on that day but end up finding none, you might as well pause for a while and know the reason of your tragedy.

Your home should be a refuge from stress, not a source of stress. Once a year we need to go through our closets, garages, dresser drawers and boxes stashed in the attic and find out what we can get rid of.

Do you save clothes in hope of returning to the size you were when you stored them? This clothing can add up to boxes and boxes of things that will be out of style by the time you actually can wear them again.

Clutter is one of the constants in our lives. Some of the best possible ways to reduce the clutter in your areas of interest can be found right here.

1. Do not save cosmetics once they are used, broken, or old. Throw them in the garbage immediately.

2. After you finish reading the newspaper or magazine, throw it into the recycling bin. Do not leave them around. You will probably never go back to read it.

3. When a toy breaks, and cannot be fixed, toss it immediately into the garbage.

4. Everytime you purchase a new book, look for 2-3 books that you can part with. Donate them to your local library.

5. Sell outgrown shoes and clothes, or donate them to the needy.

6. Organize so that making arts/crafts can be enjoyable. Make sure you have a place for everything. Small boxes can hold sewing threads or paint bottles. Put them away after you are done.

7. Work on one room at a time so you don't get overwhelmed.

8. If you're having a tough time throwing something out, try to think about how much you really need it. If it's something you'd want to show your children, consider whether you can just talk about it, or take a picture of it.

9. Those things that you cannot throw yet since you find them having a sentimental value, try to store them in boxes with labels. If you have not used it in a month, give it another 3 months. If the same goes well, give it 6 months. When you found these stuffs untouched for the last 6 months, give it a year. If nothing new happens, it is wise to dispose them right away.

It is not always easy to condemn the things you can hardly live without, yet it may be too dangerous to treasure those that make you live hardly. There is a saying, "Get rid of what you do not want to make room for what you do want". Don't go crazy trying to store everything. At your best, try to start controlling the mess rather than itself controls you.

Saving Whiplash Preys

We are prone to accidents. And no matter how prudent we are wherever we may be, we can be victims of unforseen occurences if we are negligent. And if we are already in a critical situation, the least help we can offer ourselves is to know the injury we suffer; "the best way to win a battle is to know your enemy", so to speak.

There are many injuries that may come our way. Major or minor injuries, they both can make us ill. Let us talk about one minor injury that could severely damage us if sound treatments are not done.

"Whiplash" was first used in 1928 as a term to describe neck pain which can lead to an injury to the soft tissues of the neck specifically ligaments, tendons, and muscles.
This neck injury is caused by an abnormal motion or force applied to your neck which causes movement beyond the neck's normal capacity of motion. It usually happens in vehicular accidents, sporting activities, accidental falls, non-acute causes such as using your neck to hold the phone, etc. However, the most frequent cause of whiplash is a car accident. Speeds as low as 15 miles per hour can produce enough energy to cause whiplash in passengers, whether or not they wear seat belts.
Whiplash's symptoms may occur immediately after the initial injury. These are neck pain, neck swelling, tenderness along the back of your neck, muscle spasms (in the side or back of your neck), difficulty moving your neck around, headache, and pain shooting from your neck into either shoulder or arm.
And just as every single trap has its own way out, each pain also has its own remedy.
Gladly, whiplash can be treated, even on your own. It is common for us to see a doctor immediately when health problems arise. And in cases like this, the doctor most likely will recommend treatment like neck massage, neck rest, bed rest, heat therapy, ice therapy, oral pain relievers, muscle relaxer, imobilization of the neck with a soft cervical collar, motion exercise with heat therapy, avoidance of excessive neck strain for the next week, and then increased activity as tolerated in the following weeks. When symptoms from your whiplash injury continue, contact the doctor whom you asked the treatment from.
You can ease your pain alone when the doctor is to no avail. You may apply ice to your neck, but do not apply ice directly to the skin. Continue using this therapy until the pain stops.
At any time of the day, occurences which we never forsee may happen, mostly when we are in an unconscious state. And even if there is an ample of treatment available in any way, prevention is still far better than any treatment. Again and again, prevention is always better than cure, that is to say.
